CPT Agility Trainer Holly Schmidt Heads Local Chapter of the Teacup Dog Agility Association (TDAA)

CPT Head Agility Trainer recently formed a local chapter of the Teacup Dog Agility Association (TDAA). The mission of the TDAA is to provide a competitive agility venue for dogs of small stature without regard to breed or pedigree. Obstacles are scaled down to a size more appropriate for small dogs and the courses are scaled smaller as well, with less transitional distance between obstacles than used in a standard AKC, USDAA or NADAC competition. Inclusion is limited to dogs standing less than 17 inches at the whithers.

The organization was founded in 2002, when it held its first trial in Kansas City, Kansas. Now, there are 74 member clubs in the USA and Canada. Over 1900 dogs from the USA, Canada, and Mexico have registered with the TDAA.

Holly’s club, called Dancing Dog Agility, is the first and only TDAA club in Georgia. Dancing Dog Agility recently held Georgia’s first TDAA trial. Over 40 dogs participated in the inaugural event. Future trials are scheduled for May 23- 24 in Cartersville, GA and November 27 – 29 in Alpharetta, GA.

Persons interested in entering the events can receive registration materials online at www.dancingdogagility.com.

CPT is proud of Holly’s accomplishments as an agility competitor and as an agility promoter. Agility is a wonderful sport that benefits from energetic, passionate participants like Holly.
