CPT’s competition obedience team recently achieved one new title and several first place finishes.
Christina Shrake and her Golden Retriever, Dakota, earned a FIRST PLACE finish at the Open level with an excellent score of 193.5 in an Australian Shepherd Club of America (ASCA) obedience trial held in Woodstock, Georgia. Christina has had a very successful last few months. In October, Christina and Dakota earned their AKC Open Obedience (CDX) title in three consecutive shows. They next plan to show in AKC competition at the Utility level during Spring 2005.
Krista Weaver and her Rat Terrier, Sassy, traveled to Savannah, Georgia to participate in United Kennel Club (UKC) obedience competition. Krista and Sassy earned two consecutive FIRST PLACE finishes with scores of 194 and 192, which earned them their Companion Dog (CD) title. Krista and Sassy earned a blue ribbon each of the three times they qualified. They plan to participate in Open level competition in the Spring.
Christine Thomas and her Great Dane, Manfred, earned a third place finish in AKC Novice A competition with an awesome score of 193.5. Usually, a score that high would win finish first or second. So, there was tough competition on that day. Regardless, few people showing Great Danes in obedience against Golden Retrievers, Border Collies and Shelties fare as well as Christine did with Manfred.
Competition obedience is great fun and provides an exciting avenue for continuing your dog’s training past the Intermediate level. If you are interested in learning more about CPT’s competition programs, please stop by or contact the CPT office by phone at 770-396-6433.
