As an author, Mark Spivak co-authored the PLoS One and Behavioural Processes journal articles described above. He will imminently publish an outstanding book, “Effective Housebreaking- How to Housebreak Both the Easy and Difficult Dog,” that will be available on Amazon.com and via other national sources. He has partially completed another book focusing on basic pet obedience. For several years, Mark was a monthly columnist as “The Pet Expert” for Loving Pets Products, a respected national manufacturer and distributor of gourmet pet treats and products. In addition, Mark has authored many abstract and full-length articles for the CPT website and he has published many proprietary training articles that CPT uses internally for educating professional trainers and for maintaining quality control when establishing CPT’s corporate protocols.
Patricia King graduated from CPT’s in-house training program and has passed with honors all of CPT’s behavioral and obedience training examinations. Karen Smalley is a graduate of CPT’s in-house training program and has passed with honors all of CPT’s behavioral and obedience training examinations. She has trained for CPT for the past 17 years.
Lisa and Jeff have trained dogs seriously for 27 years and are entering their eighteenth year training for CPT.
Megan Sinteff Jefferson started her dog training career in 2002 as a CPT apprentice trainer at just 16 years of age. She started by observing CPT Trainers Lisa and Jeff Carroll, who were neighbors of her parents, and then by formally entering the CPT apprentice program. Megan apprenticed for two years and then graduated to become a CPT trainer. She first worked in conjunction with her parents, Mike and Teresa. However, since her marriage to Caleb Jefferson in September 2009 and their subsequent purchase of 3 acres of pristine pastoral property in Flowery Branch, Megan has expanded her role providing CPT Boarding and Board Training services.
Alex Collier has graduated from CPT’s in-house apprentice training program and is certified internally to perform many types of group, private, in-home private, and boarding instruction.

Melissa Nelson has trained dogs professionally for 4 years plus an additional 3 years as volunteer. Prior to working for CPT and upon graduation from Texas A&M University, Melissa was employed by Power Paws Assistance Dogs in Scottsdale, Arizona. Chrissy Mattucci formerly worked for CPT in Atlanta and is now opening CPT’s Eugene, Oregon location.
