On Friday, April 14, CPT Trainers Mark Spivak and Krista Weaver appeared at Dr. Andy Morton’s Chattahoochee Animal Clinic in Roswell. Mark and Krista first explained CPT’s history and services, then assisted the Hospital staff in resolving their pets’ behavioral and obedience problems, including consultations on housebreaking and digging and a hands-on demonstration on improving motivation, reliability, and responsiveness to the come command and reducing anxiety and associated dog-human aggression. The staff appreciated the insights of CPT’s professional trainers as well as CPT’s cognitive, personalized emphasis. Consequently, even though Dr. Morton has trained one of his dogs with CPT, now the entire Chattahoochee staff can speak more knowledgably and confidently when recommending CPT for improving their clients’ behavioral and obedience issues.
The highlight of the presentation was saved for last, when Mark demonstrated the obedience prowess of Hampton, a customer’s competition Boston Terrier. Hampton displayed off-leash utility level obedience skills, including focused attention, heeling, retrieving, and scent discrimination (even while using the clinic cat as a distraction). Everyone enjoyed Hampton’s performance, which further demonstrated the competency of CPT’s staff, as well as our positive, motivational training methodologies.
