Three New Titles

CPT’s competition obedience team recently achieved three new titles, several placements, and one first place finish.

Elyssa Korman and her Samoyed, Astro, earned a THIRD PLACE finish at the Open A level with an excellent score of 189.5 in an American Kennel Club (AKC) obedience trial held in Jonesboro, Georgia. The third place finish was only one of their significant achievements as this was their third leg and garnered them the prestigious Open (CDX) title. They next plan to show in AKC competition at the Utility level. In addition to participating on CPT’s competition team, Elyssa is a CPT Trainer and teaches group classes at CPT’s Alpharetta location.

Renee Thompson and her Norwegian Buhund, Pele, accomplished their Novice A (CD) title in three consecutive shows. Their performances includes scores of 190, 181, and 183 and FIRST, FOURTH, and THIRD place respectively. Very few people achieve their title in three consecutive events. So, Renee and Pele deserve commendation. They have already started training for Open level competition.

Christine Thomas and her Great Dane, Manfred, earned qualifying scores of 179 and 180.5. The preceding scores also completed their second and third legs and their AKC Novice A (CD) title. Manfred first came to CPT as a fearful and occasionally aggressive dog who lacked control or obedience skills. Christina and Manfred have come a long way since first enrolling at CPT.

Competition obedience is great fun and provides an exciting avenue for continuing your dog’s training past the Intermediate level. If you are interested in learning more about CPT’s competition programs, please stop by or contact the CPT office by phone at 770-396-6433.
