Sharecare.com is a national health and wellness resource and information website that includes platforms for both personalized and general health programs and information. The company was founded in 2010 by Jeff Arnold, the creator of WebMD and television’s Dr. Oz (Mehmet Oz) in collaboration with several large corporate investors: Harpo Studios, Sony Pictures Television, and Discovery Communications.
Sharecare is best known for its RealAge Test, but also offers several other products and programs for website members. For instance, the company’s AskMD app functions as a diagnostic, information, and resource tool that helps users locate appropriate physicians and research information after they input symptoms about a pertinent condition. AskMD won an award as the best medical app of 2014.
The content on Sharecare.com is both written in-house and supplied by external sources, such as medical professionals from the Cleveland Clinic and Johns Hopkins University, independent medical professionals, and respected organizations, such as the AARP, the American Cancer Society, the American Diabetes Association, the American Heart Association, the American Red Cross, and the National Academy of Sports Medicine. In addition, various personal and corporate knowledge partners contribute content or answer member questions. Now, CPT has also contributed content.
In celebration of National Dog Day (Aug 26, 2016), Sharecare contacted CPT to co-develop a 10-minute piece on service dogs and service dog training. CPT’s Mark Spivak and Sharecare’s Holly Bellin, Manager of Social Content and Brand Communications, cooperatively authored the talking points and story boards relevant to the production. Sharecare then produced a live broadcast of CPT Trainer Patricia King who discussed the selection, role, training and benefit of service dogs to a national audience.
